This Romanian kit was in great condition. The wood was well kept, with minimal gouging and scratches. The bolt carrier is well worn and basically in the white, which made it easier to polish. The kit was stamped 1963, and runs great. Please note that this did not come with a firing pin for the included bolt (APEX Customer Service is sending a firing pin). I like this kit so much, I will likely pick up another one for a future build.

This is the second kit I bought. I was very pleased with this one. The first on I bought had rust from corrosive ammo on it. This one appears to have been unfired though. I am extremely satisfied with the condition of my second kit.

Mine was a bit rustier than I had expected. Inside of the gas block, gas tube, piston, and FSB all had a nice layer of rust. The trunnion had some pitting on it as well but not in the locking lugs. Inside the bolt the extractor spring was corroded to the point of breaking in two. The muzzle cap retainer spring was also missing from my kit.

Other than the rusty bits I was pleased with the kit. The wear on the dust cover is beautiful and the wood parts were all in great condition. There was even a ~1ft piece of cloth stuffed into the cleaning kit hole in the stock (possibly to reduce noise?) that I thought was neat. I was originally going to call and complain but I removed all the rust I could and what I couldn't fix I had replacements so I decided not to. My year was '74

Just received my Romy AKM, major props go to Randy for having me covered. I asked for an early as possible model and WOW, I now own a 1965"double dong"! This is going to make one tight bad a** AK ! Thanks so much to everybody at APEX. The patina is perfect ,everything that should be there, is there and hot damn I can't stop touching the pieces!
